WHY WE WILL SUCCEED?

Integrated Pilot plant BFD – v3 – March 23

AS MMg has completed significant works on the ”front end” hydrometallurgical side of the process previously and had this verified already (via the JORC standard CPR done by SRK (UK) Ltd, the focus is the down stream side of the Mg and Cr streams.   The Cr stream is of no issue and a known technology and hence MMg works on controlling this thermal reduction process and optimizing it in order to ensure optimal integration to the other processes.

The Project EU Magnesium works on the Mg stream, and these are split into 2 sections:

  • Producing the MgCl2 stream on the pilot plant in Tarnaveni – this involves a redesign of the existing pilot plant to improve the flow and seek a higher recovery rate through process optimization and

  • Carrying out the dehydration and reduction process in N.I.C Slovenia.  N.I.C was chosen to do this stage as they have experience in working with Cl gas / halides and other such types of thermal reduction and have equipment in their facilities to be able to do this.   MMg will supplement equipment where needed.   MMg understands the criticality of the dehydration / reduction steps in the MgCl2 process for Mg production.
